In Jesus’ time only the rich ate meat regularly. Bread and wine were staples. Beans, lentils, cucumbers, leeks, onions, pomegranates, figs, grapes, melons, honey, nuts, dates, onions, garlic, curds and goat cheese, olive oil, and fish were in the daily diet.
Jesus and His disciples ate a diet of raw, unprocessed natural foods, including whole grains (wheat, flax, and other grains). There were no potato chips, artificial sweeteners, soda pop, hydrogenated fats, refined sugars, or hard liquors (wine was diluted).
